The challenge

We recently acquired a three-bedroom, semi-detached house in a quiet part of Borehamwood, although still close to the Shenley Road, local amenities and transport links.

When looking for suitable properties, we focus on flats and houses in need of full renovation so that they can be refurbished to the same high standard and specification as the rest of our portfolio.

With our offices based in the heart of Borehamwood, we mainly purchase properties within a ten-mile radius so are close by to deal with any tenancy or maintenance issues. We pride ourselves on offering a professional service on a personal level.

The BHE renovation process

At BHE we follow a proven renovation and refurbishment process, using trusted tradespeople to fit quality materials that keep both their aesthetic and functional value over time. This starts with the basics – ensuring the fabric of the property is sound – followed by all essential works and, finally, the finishing touches that make all the difference.

Works on this project included:

  • Redesign of the separate lounge and kitchen into a light-filled, open-plan kitchen/reception room, with brand new appliances and white, high-gloss kitchen cupboards
  • Contemporary, high quality ceramic flooring laid throughout the ground floor, with new carpets on the stairs and in all bedrooms
  • New UPVC windows and front and back doors, together with solid oak wooden interior doors
  • Replacement of stairs
  • Complete rewiring of the property, including new fuse board
  • New gas-fired boiler and central heating system, together with new radiators
  • All interior walls replastered and freshly decorated in neutral tones, with new skirting boards
  • Brand new bathroom, featuring a modern white three-piece suite with completely tiled walls and floor
  • Removal of dated built-in bedroom cupboards and wardrobes to maximise the flexibility of the space
  • Venetian blinds fitted in the reception room and black-out blinds in the bedrooms for comfort and privacy
  • New energy-efficient recessed LED downlighters installed in all rooms, together with new external lighting
  • Total remodelling of the front and back gardens

A once tired and near-derelict house has been transformed into a beautiful, welcoming, contemporary home. All within just 12 weeks.
